Well, the wild ride of 2024 is over and, just like the rickety wooden roller coasters of my youth, 2025 is slowly clicking up the first hill. I don’t know what 2025 has in store but I can guarantee two things. It’s going to be full of ups and downs and it’ll be over in the blink of an eye.
Below are a couple of things I want to work on in 2025. This is by no means a full comprehensive list of resolutions. That list is reserved for me, my journal, and my therapist. This is also the 3rd time I’ve tried to write this post without Squarespace, or myself, deleting it for some reason or another. So it’s going to be quick.
Draw more - In 2024 I did a lot of fun art stuff, most of which can be seen right here on my website. I want to continue that trend and add to it. This resolution is always on this list.
Exercise more - Aaahhh, the obligatory “lose some weight” resolution. This one is always on the list too, but I have a few exercises that I truly enjoy doing (rucking/hiking and jumprope) but I would like to add some extra movement to my daily life.
Get my garden going again - My last blog post was a year and a half ago, in 2023, and it was about how much fun I was having growing my first garden. It was a ton of fun and I fell in love with it. The post 9 days before that, however, was about Azie, the newest addition to our family. In 2024 I didn’t have the time or energy to commit to a garden because of the baby. She’s practically a teenager now so I’m going to start up my garden again!
Baby step it - My brain tends to think of bold and drastic ideas and then daydream about how the results changed me and my family’s lives forever. My brain also likes to shut these ideas down the second it realizes just how much hard work it takes to achieve them. So instead of attempting to change everything, everywhere, all at once (great movie by the way), I’m going to do them in small, manageable, bit-sized chunks that, over time, will move me closer to my dream of me and my family riding off into the sunset on gilded white horses…or something like that.
That’s it for now. I hope your 2025 is amazing and I really hope these words aren’t deleted before I get to publish them on this blog.
